​Sunset Seniors Centre– located on Main St near East 49th Avenue

The Sunset Seniors Centre (part of the Sunset Community Centre)  is a welcoming, purpose-built facility designed to support healthy aging, lifelong learning, and meaningful social connections for older adults in South Vancouver.

Located within the Sunset Community Centre at 6810 Main Street, the centre features more than 11,000 square feet of accessible programming space dedicated to recreation, wellness, education, and community engagement. The facility offers a variety of opportunities for seniors to stay active, connected, and involved through fitness classes, social programs, workshops, special events, and community gatherings.

The centre includes a fully equipped Class 1 commercial kitchen capable of supporting catering services, community meals, and food-focused programs. Flexible multipurpose rooms provide space for a wide range of activities that promote physical, mental, and social well-being.

Designed with sustainability and accessibility in mind, the building meets Passive House standards and is pursuing LEED Gold and Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification Gold. These features help create a comfortable, environmentally responsible, and inclusive space for all visitors.

The Sunset Seniors Centre was developed through extensive community input and made possible through funding contributions from the Government of Canada and the City of Vancouver. The facility is jointly operated by the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation and the Sunset Community Centre Association, ensuring it remains a vibrant hub where seniors can connect, learn, and thrive.
