Sunset Community Association President’s Message:
On behalf of the Sunset Community Association (SCA,) I hope you all had a wonderful summer with your family and loved ones. I would like to share a few of the highlights of the SCA thus far.
The SCA Board of Directors look forward to working with the newly elected Mayor Ken Sim, City Councillors and PB Commissioners, and I look forward to continuing to work with City of Vancouver and Park Board for the delivery of programs that further bring the community together.
Our Diwali event in October was a success. Thank you to our Bhangra and Bollywood instructors and students in providing such engaging performances. Another thanks to Hi Five Chicken for sponsoring part of our event.
Sunset’s Youth Council, Special Events Team (SET), and Junior Leader 2B program took part in hosting our Haunted Halloween event. The youth and staff had put in their time and effort in creating an amazing event for the community.
The SCA’s Summer Escape, REMIX, and Youth camps at Sunset and Moberly ran at full capacity.
2022 was a memorable year with the full return of our special events (including our flagship Canada day event), expansion of our winter and spring break camps, and announcement of a senior’s centre funding.
SCA’s a monthly hot meals program supported by Greater Vancouver Food Bank is back!
I look forward to reconnecting with you in person at the Sunset Community Centre and at the Moberly Arts & Cultural Centre (MACC) very soon, especially at our upcoming community events, Breakfast with Santa, upcoming Lunar New Year Celebration and Family Day celebrations at Sunset.
Let’s have another busy and fun-filled year together!
Respectfully submitted,
Bhalwinder S. Waraich
President – Sunset Community Association
