New Years resolutions are set by many with the start of a new year. This usually means that the gyms are busier! We are pleased to be continuously updating our gym to make it better for our community. If you have not seen the new equipment yet please come and check it out! There are also lots of new learning, art and fitness classes if the gym is not on your resolution list.
Your Association is extremely pleased by the opening of the new out of school care location at Sexsmith Elementary. The hard work of Paramjeet Munday, our Manager of PS and OSC and her whole team, have worked over the last 3 years to open this space. It is of great value to our community and leaves a few open spaces for OSC at our Sunset location. Thanks to all of the people involved including Sexsmith Principal Ross Cassie, City of Vancouver permitting, Licensing, Vancouver School Board rentals and many, many others.
We continue to participate in the new JOA negotiations, keeping the community needs at the top of our priorities. We certainly hope that 2017 sees a resolution of the issues that have surrounded this discussion over the last years.
Your Association supports the new Seniors Centre approved on July 27, 2016 to be located as an East Vancouver centre in the Sunset area. This is a welcome addition of services to our community.
Canada 150 team have started planning an even more fantastic Canada Day party this year. If you would like to be a part of the planning committee we welcome your ideas and new volunteer time and talent.
We are always looking for volunteers who are passionate about our community. Please let us know if you want to join one of our committees and help shape the programs and services offered at your Sunset Community Centre.
Respectfully,
Greg Hubbard
President, Sunset Community Association
