President’s Message

Our Sunset Community Association’s Annual General Meeting was held on April 21, 2022. I would like to thank everyone who attended. It would not have been such a success without your participation and support. I would like to congratulate and welcome Mantej Jassal and Lynn Cui as our Association’s new Board of Directors.

Summer Escape and Youth Camps at the Sunset Community Centre, Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre, and Ross Park are planned for this summer. With the Canada Summer Jobs grant, we have hired 16 young staff from the community, and we will be expecting over 800 campers to participate in these fun-filled educational, social, and recreational activities for 6 to 9 weeks.

SCA’s Licensed Preschool, Full Day Childcare, and Out of School Care programs are at full capacity. We are in process of expanding the licensed childcare program to serve working families in the community.

Our annual Canada Day community celebration is back! We will be celebrating in-person with indoor and outdoor activities and live performances in the park. This is one of the community’s most popular event, and proudly supported by the SCA, Heritage Canada Grant and local community groups.

With COVID-19 restrictions lifted, we hope to see more people coming out to enjoy our community garden, outdoor space, and patio at Sunset.

Respectfully submitted,

Bhalwinder S. Waraich
President – Sunset Community Association
