Acting Kung Fu (16+ yrs)

Do you love Kung Fu movies? Why not make one yourself? Acting Kung Fu is a class focused on staging Kung Fu choreographies live and for camera. Students will get into the basic ideas of Non-Verbal Dialogue, the narrative of fights, and the creation of fight choreographies. Another important part will be the preparation for and approach of a character. This physical class includes theory and praxis, and is not a stage combat course.

Open Dance Sessions with Polymer Dance (16+ yrs)
Miriam Esquitin
Polymer Dance offers weekly classes mixing techniques, training and improvisation for beginners and advanced non-professional dancers, along with opportunities to perform in a mix of traditional and non-traditional venues a few times a year. Led by Miriam Esquitin and Kristina Lemieux, Polymer collaborates with other community dance and arts groups, city events and professional artists. This summer, Polymer is hosting open movement jams at MACC on Tuesdays from 7-9pm for four weeks in a row July 10, 17, 24 and 31. Everyone welcome! For more info:

Medicinal Garden Stewardship with Lori Snyder (12+ yrs)

Come to the Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre to join Indigenous herbalist Lori Snyder in planting, growing and harvesting medicinal herbs in the Moberly Herb Garden. Lori Snyder will plan with participants which herbs to grow, when to harvest them, and when to create new products from them. Students should wear warm clothes appropriate for planting.

Making Apple Cider Vinegar Tincture with Dandelion (12+ yrs)

Artist and herbologist Lori Snyder will be teaching participants how to make an apple cider vinegar tincture with dandelions, which will aid with digestion, lower blood pressure, improve heart health and more. Students will work with Lori the harvest the common plants in our area, improve and learn from the community garden, and learn how to create this unique tincture. Preregistration is required.

All Bodies Dance Youth (16-24 yrs)

Calling all music-loving, energetic and creative youth! This August the All Bodies Dance Project is offering a 5-week series of dance workshops for young people with and without disabilities. Together we will explore dance improvisation, rhythm and non-verbal communication in a fun and safe environment. Each session will include a movement-based warm-up, a series of improvisation based exercises and time for collaborative creation and discussion. All abilities and experience are welcome! Participants who require one-to-one support will need to bring their own assistant.
